Last week
The worry was thick among the Free Beer faithful, who would be Diana's replacement? Who? To our surprise and delight, it was Megan, oh the greatness was in full force. The bartender is ever so important to Free Beer. A good week, except on of Kim Jong Il's little friends was way to drunk and behaving badly. Only 3 BBY'ers, which is disappointing and the NoDak crew was basically a no show, but Free Beer went on and it's greatness was never put to the test.

LAST FREE BEER OF THE YEAR MONDAY, we expect a very small crowd due to the holiday. Maybe just Josh, Crytal (an alum from boston), and me??

Free Beer Recap
Free Beer was in its full glory all year, it is a great event that brings many people together. It is true enjoyment for those who attend. The year started off with an amazing bang that I had hoped would continue throughout the year, but sadly as the weeks went on, the excitement for some dwindled, this I do not understand. People must want to get home and watch Home & Garden or some crap that is not as cool or fun as Free Beer. It was a year where we saw some sad departures. Missy is no longer, Diana has moved on. The mainstays of Josh and myself remain. We have not missed a free beer in 3 years. 48 weeks. Some would say sad, I say congrats to us for not falling pray to the couch and deciding to get out and enjoy ourselves.
Last we need to thank Sally's. They do a great job. It is a great experience. From the doorman who always open the door for everyone (at a college bar) to the cooks who get the underrated food out amazingly quick, the owners who have kept Free Beer a tradition for many many years and of course the GREAT bartenders who without their hard work, Free Beer would not be the great fun time it has turned into.

Lets hope that we can do this again next year, and for some, lets try and keep some sort of ritual with the Free Beer crowd going during the off-season.

We are in the home stretch. The FINAL two weeks of Free Beer are upon us (no mnf last week of nfl season). O Come all to FREE BEER. Tonight should be a great crowd. Some of the NoDak’ers are planning on attending. The hated packers are playing. What exactly are they packing? In the offseason do they drink more paint thinner or less? What is the customary month to marry a cousin? June like most common folk? I assume October before a Packer game dressed as a block of DUMB.

Anyway. My arrival will be around 6:30.

This FREE BEER is written with mixed emotions. One of the pillars of FREE BEER and the most important person (other then the actual beer) has moved on and found a new career. Yes, this is Diana’s last pouring of the FREE BEER. We wish her the best, and hope she will pass down the secrets of Free Beer to her underlings. If you go back to the old Free Beer emails from FY05, you can see the building of the relationship. Toomie had been the bartender for a long time and Diana came in as a Free Beer rookie and reinvented the position. She was the Michael Jordan, the Muhammad Ali of Free Beer. She will never be duplicated.

Week 12 Update
The evening worked out very well, parking was not ideal, but Gopher Bball nights may turn out to be GREAT FREE BEER nights, the crowds abandon Sally’s at 7 and we OWN the bar. We still had a good turnout even after me telling people they should maybe not go.
The Greatness of FREE BEER is starting to wind down, there are many of you we have not seen in a while or AT ALL THIS YEAR. FREE BEER is a gift, we need to embrace it. Tonight is a great night for FREE BEER.
