Beer Song & Flogging Molly Review

http://www.psychostick.com/beer_small.htm

Something a little different today, click on above link. It is good, clean, and TRUE.

Last week we were back to a good turnout, anything is better then the three the week before that. We are still struggling with the amateur bartender, it HURTS ALL OF US when we do not have Meghan working. It is a slippery slope, do we say something to the new guy and risk making him mad? He does a decent job, but you can see the talent just is not there, not his calling. He is more of a free wine pace kind of guy.

This week we have big expectations, we have a good game (Giants vs. Cowboys) and the return of one of the OG’s of Free Beer. Missy, aka MOO, is joining us from Chicago. Her love for FREE BEER is significant, she booked her flights around this great occasion. So everyone get your quarters ready for the candy bowl and lets get this party started.

I will have a very early arrival time today. Close to 6 if not earlier.

Flogging Molly Review

Where: Coffman Union Great Hall
Who: C Diddy and myself

I have only had the pleasure to see Flogging Molly once before and that was when they headlined the Irish Fair in St. Paul. I have numerous times missed one of their great shows at First Ave. I finally said to myself that at all costs I will attend the show next time they are in town. For those of you not familiar, Flogging Molly is a Rock/Punk/Irish band out of LA. They are brilliant. The scene was unique, the Great Hall at Coffman Union at the U. The show was sold out, tickets were only sold at Coffman for $20. it was basically a big ballroom, for sure less then 1000 people. The big complaint is they took way too long to get their drunk Irish arses out onto the stage. Once there, it was total Pandemonium. Massive mosh/dancing pits. Crazed fans going nuts for everything they did. Quite the scene. We had shout outs from the band to 1st Ave, to O’Donavans, to the U (no 35W sigh). A band like the Killers could learn something from how Flogging Molly interacts with the crowd, they actually care how the show goes, they care about their fans and too many bands (The Killers) do not care about their fans. Only downside to the show is it was LOUD, man I am old. If you get a chance to see Flogging Molly. Jump at it.
